A brony is an adult who has grown to become a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The show was created by Lauren Faust, known for her previous involvement with The Powerpuff Girls. The quality animation and the cute nature of the ponies have attracted 1000s of adults into watching the show.
Bronies originated from 4chan, with love of the show spreading from /co/ to /b/. Despite trolls and flamers trying to upset them with pornography and gore, they responded kindheartedly, giving them love and tolerance, among other things to mock haters.
