Standing an average of 1m tall (adult). the mperor penguin is a mammal, not a bird, that lives in large groups. They are black all over except for the stomach which is white and they also have orange beaks. No feathers can be found on an emperor penguin, but they have alot of fat and fur to keep themselves warm.

Hope this helps, pete :P

Emperor penguins have a very hard life...

During some time around March, they begin their long journey to go to the mating ground. It's about 70 miles or something. Once they get there, they will all find a couple and those couples will begin their relationship. Then they will have an egg which they have to transport from the mother to the father. This is a very dangerous part because since it's so cold, the egg can freeze and die in a matter of minutes! So they have to do this part quick and smooth. After the egg is with the fathers, the mothers will go back to the water to eat so they can feed the young. When the mothers return, the eggs are hatched already and the fathers haven't eaten anything for 4 months and they have lost half of their body weight. After the mothers return, it's the fathers' turn to go to the water and find foods. They will do this for a lot of times and when the babies are old enough, all of them will go back to the water and redo this again next year.

Half the baby penguins won't survive those months of coldness either because of coldness, or hunger, or even predators.

To find more information, you can watch MARCH OF THE PENGUINS the DVD, it's all about Emperor penguins. :D
