Depends..cities often are named after a founder or can be translated from an old language. Ex Pittsburgh named after William Pitt or Toronto which means "meeting place" in (I think) Iroqouis or Huron. Suburban cities and towns often are generic. Ex Meadowville, Auburn heights, Oakville, Rosemount, Spring Creek, Pembroke Pines etc.
