'Macro' from Classical Greece, means 'Very Large'.
So a macromolecule is one that contains thousands if not millions of atoms. Polymers like PVC are macromolecules. It formula is
-[-CH2-CHCl-]-(n)
Where 'n' can be veryu large, thousands if not millions.
The opposite of macro is 'MICRO' . meaning 'very small' . An example would be 'water'.

In biochemistry, the term is applied to the four conventional biopolymers (nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates and lipids), as well as non-polymeric molecules with large molecular mass such as macrocycles. The constituent molecules from which macromolecules are assembled are called monomers.

All polymers are macro molecules,but not all macromolecules are not polymers because a polymer is linked with monomers.
