Jewish answer:

There is a Christian Evangelical Cult whose members call themselves Messianic 'Jews'. They claim to be 'Jewish' and they state that 'real Jews worship Jesus'.

But the Messianic Cult has no link to Judaism. It is a purely Christian movement. There is no 'messianic' sect IN Judaism. And no Jews worship either Jesus OR any other human - it's forbidden in Judaism to worship anyone but God.

It's important to be aware of this Messianic Cult, because they are managing to convince a lot of people that they represent Judaism - but they DO NOT.

Christian answer:

The word messianic comes from the word Messiah, which means "anointed one." In the Bible there are several persons who were anointed for a specific purpose, who could have been referred to as Messiah, such as King David, Solomon, and others who were anointed by God. But most often when using the word Messiah, we are referring to Jesus Christ.

Messianic would be a designation of something pertaining to a messiah. Such as messianic throne, messianic reign, etc.

The word messianic will almost always be used in context with something pertaining to the reign of Jesus Christ. Such as the use of the term messianic rule or messianic throne, when referring to the reign of Jesus Christ on his heavenly throne.

Fact: Jesus was a Jew, 2010 years ago, a messiah was sent by God {who was Jewish}. He sacrified his life for the Jews and all of those who believed in him.

Jesus, or Christianity, was born from the Jewish people through fate, destiny or by a higher power.God is and always be that higher power. So it is easy to be both. They are one in the same. God blessed us because many Christians are pro Israel and descend from Jews.

Correction:

The word messiah is the Anglicised form of the Hebrew 'moshiach. The word moshiach means 'anointed', NOT 'anointed one'. Moshiach is a title given to any person who is anointed with oil as part of their initiation into serving HaShem (The Creator). There is absolutely nothing supernatural about a moshiach.

The term 'messianic' was adopted by various Christian groups in their attempts to convert Jews to Christianity. The theory being that it would be easier to convert Jews if they believed they could be Jewish and Christian at the same time. Of course, the is a complete lie.

A messiah is one of two things. It is a either a deliverer of people, or it is the accepted or professed leader of a cause or idea. This is the definition for the uncapitalized version of the word messiah. The capitalized version of the word typically only refers to Jesus Christ.

Jewish Answer

The word "messiah" is the transliterated form of the Hebrew "moshiach." The word moshiach means "anointed." The title of moshiach was given to any person who was appropriately anointed with oil as part of their initiation to their service of God. There have been a number of meshichim (plural) in the form of kings and priests. There need be nothing supernatural about a moshiach.

This being said, there is a prophecy of a future moshiach. The Jewish requirements of the messiah have not yet been fulfilled. They are:

* Build the Third Temple (Ezekiel 37:26-28).

* Gather all Jews back to the Land of Israel (Isaiah 43:5-6).

* Usher in an era of world peace, and end all hatred and oppression. "Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, nor shall they learn war any more" (Isaiah 2:4).

* Spread universal knowledge of the God of Israel, which will unite humanity as one. "God will be King over all the world. On that day, God will be One and His Name will be One" (Zechariah 14:9).

* The messiah must be descended on his father's side from King David (Genesis 49:10 and Isaiah 11:1).

* The messiah will lead the Jewish people to full Torah-observance. The Torah states that all of its mitzvot (commands) remain binding forever.

The term "Messianic Judaism" was coined by Christian groups in their attempt to convert Jews to Christianity, primarily the Southern Baptists. Their theory was that it would be easier to get Jews to convert to Christianity if they thought they could be both Jewish and Christian at the same time. Of course, this completely violates the Tanach (Jewish Bible) and is not true at all.

At this point, "Messianic Judaism" is a sect of Christianity with the majority of its members having no Jewish heritage at all.

Jesus as their lord and savior, and at the same time, consider themselves Jews

and claim to follow some of the Jewish traditional practices. Frankly, this contributor really doesn't understand it that well.

answer:

In truth, "Messianic Jews" are 100% Christian with the majority not having any Jewish heritage whatsoever.

The Messianic Kingdom is the invisible kingdom or government which Jehovah God established to designate the manifestation of his sovereignty through his Son, Jesus Christ. The entire accumulation of both the Hebrew and Christian-Greek Scriptures (The Bible) can be totally summed up in one theme: The Kingdom. From the first prophecy at Genesis 3:15 to the climactic vision of the apostle John in Revelation, Jehovah has revealed his sincere purpose in making his name known and sanctified through the means of his kingdom ruled by his Son. In the book of Acts, Paul mentioned that after Jesus (Messiah or Christ) was resurrected, he did not immediately become king of the messianic kingdom, but rather he would be exalted and wait until God would place Jesus' "enemies as a stool for your feet." (Acts 2:32-35) This had its initial fulfillment when Satan and his angels were permanently abolished from any longer having a place in heaven. (Rev. 12:7-12) Jesus Christ did this when he became enthroned as king by Jehovah God nearly 1,881 and a half years after his resurrection in the year 1914. This prophecy is written in the book of Daniel which records a dream that mighty Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, had about an immense tree which was cut down and told by Jehovah to let "7 times pass over it," before God himself sets up a king over it. (Dan. 4:10-17) The tree symbolized God's theocratic rule by human kings, from King Saul to King Zedekiah, as represented by here on earth. (Eze. 17:22-24; 31:2-5) The tree was cut down when Zedekiah was dethroned as the last Judean king of Jerusalem because of idolatrous worship of false gods. (Eze. 21:25-27) He was dethroned by Nebuchadnezzar himself in early October of the year 607 B.C.E. (2Kings 25:1-26) The "7 times" allowed to pass over this severed tree is symbolic in accordance with Revelation 11:2, 3; 12:6, 14, which here 1260 days equals 3 and a half times. Logically then 7 times is equal to 2520 days in biblical terms. But nothing significant at all happened in the year 600 B.C.E., merely 2520 days after the symbolic cutting of the tree and dethroning of king Zedekiah. Here the rule "a day for a year" must be applied. (Ezek. 4:6); (Num. 14:34) Here then, 2520 years after October 607 B.C.E. we come to the year 1914. This year is the time when Jehovah God enthroned Jesus Christ as king of the Messianic Kingdom and his casting of Satan and his angels to earth. (Dan. 7:13,14); (Rev. 12:1-12) As recorded in Revelation, this was a monumental joyous event for the angels and their Creator in heaven. This kingdom which Jesus laid out in his model prayer had it's heavenly establishment in 1914, but the will of Jehovah for this earth, as quoted from Matthew 6: 10, hasn't come to it's complete fulfillment yet. The Messianic Kingdom will be the answer to that prayer and the total fulfillment of Jehovah's Sovereignty in heaven and on earth. (Ps. 2:1-7); (Dan. 2:44) The Bible primarily identifies this kingdom as the government which will sanctify Jehovah's name and uphold his sovereignty. (Matt. 6:9, 10) This kingdom will also eliminate all human ruled governments and also Satan's tolerated rulership. (Dan. 2:44); (Rev. 20:2, 3); (Ps. 110:5); (Rev. 20:10) It will unify all creation in worship of Jehovah alone as Most High over all things. (Rev. 5:13; 15:3, 4) It will allow once again mankind to have a harmonious relationship with God. (Rom. 8:19-21); (Rev. 21:3) It will end war of every kind. (Ps. 46:8,9); (Isa. 2:4) It will remove oppression. (Ps. 72:12-14) It will provide more than enough food for all of mankind. (Ps. 72:16); (Isa. 25;6) It will remove all illness and disabilities of all kinds. (Luke 7:22; 9:11) It will provide ideal homes for everyone. (Isa. 65:21, 22) It will guarantee satisfying employment for all. (Isa. 65:23) It will assure security and freedom from danger to one's person or property. (Mic. 4:4); (Ps. 37:10, 11) It will cause righteousness and justice to abound. (2 Pet. 3:13); (Isa. 11:3-5) It will cease all injury from natural disasters and harm from animals. (Mark 4:37-41); (Isa. 11:6-9); (Isa. 65:25); (Hos. 2:18) It will resurrect the dead. (John 5:28,29); (Rev. 20:12); (Ro. 6:7); (Job 14:13, 14) It will remove all death due to inherited sin from Adam, our human father. (Isa. 25:8); (Rev. 21:4); (Ro. 6:23); (Rev. 20:13, 14) It will make a new earth the paradise it was once originally intended to be. (Gen. 1:28; 2:15); (Luke 23:43); (Ps. 98:7-9); (Isa. 65:17); (Rev. 21:1).

.........................................................................................................................................................................................

Another viewpoint:

The Bible indicates that there will be two kingdoms on earth IN THE FUTURE, one following the other. The first kingdom will last 1,000 years and is referred to as the "Millennial (Messianic) Kingdom". The second kingdom is 'the eternal kingdom. In the Millennial Kingdom, Jesus Christ will rule as King after he fights and wins the Battle of Armageddon at the close of the Tribulation (Rev. 19). The Everlasting Kingdom will begin after the close of the Millennial Kingdom when the Devil and his demons are destroyed and the Final Judgment has taken place (Rev. 21). The sequential order of these two kingdoms is apparent through a reading of Revelation 19 - 22.

Today, the term Messianic has been adopted by various Christian groups that claim to be Jews who believe in Jesus. Their logic is that it would be easier to get Jews to convert to Christianity if the Jews are told that they can remain Jews while worshiping Jesus. However, according to the Tanach (Jewish Bible), this is a false claim.

In truth, those who refer to themselves as 'Messianic' are 100% Christian.

Messianic Judaism is a form of PROTESTANT CHRISTIANITY. Its beliefs and views are practically indistinguishable from most forms Protestantism and line up relatively well with Baptist Groups, Seventh Day Adventists, and other similar churches. They believe in a triune God, composed of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. They believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah who was Sacrificed on the Cross for the Sins of All Humanity. They use well-accepted Protestant Bibles, instead of the Masoretic Text, for the Old Testament. They have the same eschatology as Protestant sects of Christianity. And, most importantly, they use the Christian definitions of key Jewish terms like Messiah, Sheol, and the Suffering Servant.

What makes Messianic Judaism unique is its incorporation of Jewish holidays and formulas of worship (such as using Hebrew language prayers and celebrating Passover and Shabbat). However, even in these more "Jewish" aspects of worship, festivals or traditions that have nothing to do with the Messiah in traditional Judaism (such as the Passover Seder) become replete with Messianic connotations. There are two main reasons that Messianic Judaism came to be: (1) Protestant Christians wanted to "save" Jews from Hell and created Messianic Judaism as a way to lure them into proper belief, and (2) Protestant Christians wanted to connect more with Jesus as a person and, therefore, wanted to emulate the kinds of traditions that would be important to Him, which would be Jewish traditions.
