Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman, Angel, and Maximum Ride: six incredible kids genetically engineered with the ability to fly, free as birds... until Max and her gang are discovered by an FBI agent and forced to face their worst nightmare: You guessed it- school. That is, the abominable place where they learn everything except how to survive as winged mutants relentlessly hunted by killers...

FLOCK REPORT CARD:

Computer Skills: A. Can hack into any computer at lightning speed- bonus in a quest to locate missing parents.

Scientific Research: B-. Score points for discovering source of a diabolical plot, but often fail to identify clones and imposters.

Extreme Sports: A+. Earn extra credit by trading Dumpster diving for supersonic travel, aerial Ballet, and flying with dogs.

Dating: C. Relationships with non-winged peers improve. Need work on picking suitable mates.

Discipline: D. Setting off explosives, stealing hidden documents, and harassing faculty are no-nos- even if the headmaster is evil.

Saving the World: This is a pass/fail course...

THE JURY IS STILL OUT ON THE FINAL GRADE.

Some important events are: (I tried to make them in order, but I can't promise)

  • Max and the other spot Flying Erasers.
  • One of the Erasers is Ari - hes' alive!
  • Ari shreds Fang's skin, and Fang loses a ton of blood.
  • A man spots Fang, and calls the hospital. Fang is taken to the hospital, and the doctors discover his wings.
  • The FBI is called, and the Flock is interveiwed.
  • Fang heals pretty quickly, but the Flock decides they need a rest.
  • One of the FBI agents, Anne Walker, brings them to her house for several weeks to "rest and recooperate"
  • After getting to know Anne pretty well, Anne puts the flock in school. Normal grade school.
  • In school, Max makes a friend (JJ) and Fang gets a girlfriend (red-haired girl)
  • Max is asked out on a date, by a boy named Sam.
  • Max doesn't like seeing red-haired girl kissing Fang, and Fang doesn't like seeing Max being kissed by Sam.
  • Max and Fang are confused by their emotions towards each other.
  • The flock continues to work on the code. Max sees someone on TV who looks like Iggy. The person on TV had their son stolen 14 years ago.
  • They go to the person, with Iggy, and it turns out that Iggy was her son. They take him in.
  • The school is attacked by Erasers. The flock goes to Anne's house to get Total, and they see Anne talking to Jeb.
  • Anne turns out to be Jeb's boss! She's a traitor.
  • The flock has to leave, and then they see Iggy! He's back! Iggy's parents turned out to be people who only wanted fame from Iggy's wings.
  • They all run, still anxious to see their families.
