A transvestite is a person who poses as someone of the opposite gender. I for example, am a transvestite. I am a 40 year old male and I love the female species, almost too much some say, I dress up as Princess Leia on regular occasions....sometimes just day to day.

Transexuals (sometimes referred to as"she-males") are, however, people who undergo surgery to transform into the opposite gender. The term mostly refers to males-becoming-females, but can work the other way around, as well. Transgenders are people who feel like they were born the wrong gender and seek to "correct" this through the way they live their lives (as the opposite gender), cross-dressing, or transsexual surgery.
