Is it a gold-plated nickel or a $5 gold half-eagle? One is worth 5 cents and the other a few hundred dollars. If it has an eagle on the back and a D mint mark it is a gold half eagle. The confusion is because both coins are almost exactly the same size. However the half-eagle will be about 60% heavier than a nickel.

At current (08/2008) gold prices a 1907-D half eagle is worth $220 to $280 depending on how worn it is.

A 1907 wheat penny, also known as the Indian Head penny, can be worth anywhere from a few dollars to several hundred dollars, depending on its condition and any unique characteristics. It is recommended to have it appraised by a professional coin dealer or numismatist to determine its exact value.

The U.S. did not mint any nickels for circulation in 1877. Please check again and post a new question with revised information.

There were about 150 proof nickels minted that year and they're quite valuable, with prices as of 07/2011 ranging from $2000 to over $10,000. For specific prices check out the link below:

'good condition' as a description in place of fair condition can mean many dollars difference. For an 1874 nickel 3-cent piece, values range from $17 if worn, $24 with moderate wear, and $45 with slight wear.

Please don't assume that because a coin is old it has to be made out of silver. These coins are called "nickels" because ... they're made from nickel (and copper). There's more information at the Related Question

The famous wheat design was used on pennies not nickels. Also "Wheat cents" not made in 1907. They were made from 1907-1958. I think you have your denomination mixed up. If it is however a nickel it is not a coin made by the US mint and has very little value.

No such coin exists, US cents in 1907 were Indian Head cents, the buffalo nickel wouldn't be minted until 1913. If you have an Indian Head cent, it is worth about $.75 if well worn, about $1 in decent shape and can be worth about $30 if completely uncirculated.
