You can find Argon in aerosol cans to preserve opened cans of varnish, polyurethane and paint. Important documents such as the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution are encased in argon filled cases to slow down their degradation. In gas chromatography and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry argon is used as the carrier gas. In the medical field it is used in cryosurgery which uses liquefied argon to destroy cancer cells. Blue argon lasers are used in surgery to weld arteries, destroy tumors and correct eye defects. They are used in incandescent light bulbs to preserve the filaments at high temperature. Argon is also used as a thermal insulation in energy efficient windows, technical Scuba diving to inflate a dry suit, and is used as a coolant in the seeker heads of the AIM-9 Sidewinder missile.
