Conventional narrative is defined as a peice of narrative literature, either prose, or poem, that has three main parts. These main parts are defined plainly as "a beginning", "a middle", and "an end".
The beginning is when the protagonist is in a state of equilibrium. This does NOT necessarily mean that everything is "a-ok". The state of equilibrium may be broken, an unideal distopia. For example in George Orwell's "1984" the main character is not necessarily in a happy state of equilibrium when the novel begins, but it is undisrupted equilibrium nonetheless.
The middle is where this state of equilibrium changes. The middle starts exactly when the state of steady equilibrium is distrupted and is usually the premier of the first major problem in the narrative. The middle goes through the narrative, in an attempt at righting the problem, and restoring equilibrium. In the case of "1984" the middle would be when the protagonist attempts to join the Rebellion.
The end is where equilibrium is restored. It can be either restored to that of the beginning OR it may be a new form of equilibrium. In conventional narrative, the climax to the story is usually held in the ending. This means that the problem is solved, and chaos is no longer present. In "1984" this is present when the protagonist leaves the ward, and is back in distopian society.
There are different narrative codes for different films.

Narrative Conventions are things such as, Language, Setting, Plot Structure, Point of view and Characterization :)
Film conventions are film techniques, for example generic conventions of a written text are techniques such as setting, dialogue, characterisation, narrative point of view and so on. Directors of feature films use narrators, music, sound, setting, camera shot to juxtapose elements that they believe will affect the viewer and encourage them to respond how they want them to respond to what is presented.
An antinarrative is a narrative which deliberately avoids the typical conventions of a narrative, such as a coherent plot and resolution.
Some of the most important narrative conventions include setting, plot, character development, conflict, and resolution. These elements work together to create a cohesive and engaging story for the audience. The way these conventions are used can greatly impact the overall effectiveness and impact of a narrative.

Narrative conventions such as point of view, structure, and characterization shape the way a story is presented to readers. These conventions help create expectations and guide readers' understanding of the text, influencing their emotional investment, interpretation, and overall response to the story. By following or subverting these conventions, authors can manipulate reader responses and create specific effects.
