Wisdom is using knowledge.

Another Answer:

Actually, knowledge is not necessarily wisdom. But there's certainly a connection. One is based upon the other.

In The Bible, there are different words; and they have an order of relevance in relation to each other.

1) First comes 'knowledge'. This is simply about learning different bits of 'facts' & 'information'.

From the Bible you learn that you have a Creator. You learn about his 4 cardinal qualities. You learn what he requires from his creation. You learn about 'blessings' & 'punishment'. That's simply 'knowledge'.

2) Next comes 'understanding'. This has to do with 'connecting' the various bits of 'information', and seeing their relation to each other. Therefore while 'knowledge' tells you about 'blessings' & 'punishment'; 'understanding' has you realize that there are consequences (reap what you sow). If you sow with a view to the flesh, you reap corruption. If you sow with a view towards spiritual things, you are blessed with the fruitage of the spirit, which has 7 basic aspects.

3) As part of this process you learn 'discernment'. This means you 'discern' the whys and hows (why/how did it get like this; what led up to this condition); you learn the 'when / what / where.'

Associated with discernment is 'intuition'. You learn 'how to avoid punishment from God'. You anticipate problems in advance. You make adjustments, to receive a different, more desired outcome.

4) So now we're at the point of having 'wisdom'; which means: Using all the information pieces; the understanding; the discernment; using these things in a(wise) way that will benefit you and others. Wisdom helps you avoid many problems.

Perhaps an exampleof these items:

From the Bible, you learn that 'sex before marriage' is wrong. It's called 'fornication'. This is simply - a piece of 'knowledge' from the Bible. You can either accept it as 'knowledge' from Almighty God; or you are free to reject this piece of 'knowledge' and treat it as garbage information.

Next you 'understand' some things. Ie: God created us and our bodies. He has the right to tell how to use our body, and how NOT to use it. You 'understand' it due to his Creatorship.

Next you learn 'discernment'. You observe youths who ignore God's righteous standards. Some who thought they found 'love', find themselves pregnant, with the male companion having moved on to someone else. All he's interested in is sex, sex, and more sex. He's not interested in being a responsible father to the child he fathered. Others you see get a sexually transmitted disease, perhaps disabling for years; or even cutting short their life.

You observe that many pregnant girls end up having their parents raise their child. This was not God's arrangement. He arranged for each child to have a father and a mother. Therefore he instituted the commitment of 'marriage'.

As you anticipate even further into the future, you notice that people become promiscuous. There's the curse of 'adultery', which devastates family life, and runs havoc on children.

So this is where 'wisdom' comes in. You use all these pieces of information, understanding, and discernment, to make CHOICES that are in line with what God requires. You might choose to wait till the commitment of marriage before giving your virginity away. You might be more particular as to who you court in the first place. Many things you would consider.

Hopefully this gives some idea of the interaction between 'knowledge' & 'wisdom'.

knowledge comes from studying what others have done before us. wisdom comes with age and experiencing ones own mistakes and faults. my answer is yes. Knowledge is an archive of facts about reality that you have memorized, and hence, can assert whenever you want. It doesn't not amount to true understanding of such facts, and it certainly says nothing about the harmony between your attitudes and behaviors and those learnt facts of reality. True understanding comes when your behaviors in your day to day life are according to what you know. When you practice what you preach, and what you preach is in accordance to reality, you are said to be wise. This implies being able to use your knowledge in a way that makes a difference to your concrete problems and relationships and really furthers your life. This is wisdom.
