Diffusion: When small uncharged particles go through the phospholipid bilayer, it cost no ATP

Osmosis: imagine a solution with a bunch of kool aid in it then you place a cell in the glass with only a little kool aid in it the water will rush out of the cell in order to balance out the solution to solute ration.

Diffusion:- The molecules of any substance move away from the region of higher concentration to the region of lower concentration. Such movement is random and this process is called diffusion.

Osmosis:- Osmosis is slightly different from diffusion, because in osmosis, some kind of barrier separating two solutions of different concentration exists; while in simple diffusion there is no barrier.

Difusion and osmosis?

Diffusion is basically the movement of any particles form a higher area of concentration to a lower area of concentration. For example, A ink blob placed in water will gradually spread out. Osmosis refers specifically to the Diffusion of water through a semi permeable membrane. (For example, Water moving through the celll membrane) Hope this helps!

What is substances move into cell without the cell using energy?

The names of these processes are diffusion or osmosis (osmosis is the diffusion of water molecules only). These are both passive and so do not require any energy. However, facilitated diffusion using carrier and channel proteins is also a passive process of moving substances across the cell membrane.
