In science it is sort of a synonym for volume. The water displacement method is for finding volume of an irregular shaped object by placing it in water and observing the amount of water 'displaced' ... pushed out of its way.
For an internal combustion engine its displacement is the amount of air-fuel mixture which all the pistons can move out of all the cylinders through one complete set of cycles. It can be measured by filling one cylinder with any liquid (usually oil to keep from damaging the engine) when that piston is completely at the bottom of its motion then catching the oil pushed out as the piston moves to the top of its motion. Then assume all piston/cylinder combinations are equal, multiply that amount by the number of cylinders. You can also multiply to find the displacement using the equation for the volume of a cylinder, but this would be slightly less accurate due to tolerences in the building of the engine.
Displacement is the engine size in cubic centimeters.
Displacement
1.6 L refers to the displacement of the pistons in the engine of the vehicle. That is 1.6 liters of displacement.
displacement is equal to the distance you traveled when the object is moving at shortest path
2.7 liters is the displacement (size) of the engine.
The displacement (in liters).
The engine displacement in metric.
Displacement of the engine in Cubic Centimeters
It means prolapse, downward displacement of the diaphragm.
It means that the force is in a direction opposite to the displacement of the spring. It means that the force is in a direction opposite to the displacement of the spring. It means that the force is in a direction opposite to the displacement of the spring. It means that the force is in a direction opposite to the displacement of the spring.
