Hydroponics is the growing of plants in a solution without the use of soil.

Hydroponics is a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil. Plants are grown with their roots in the mineral nutrient solution only or in an inert medium, such as perlite, gravel, mineral wool, or coconut husk.

Hydroponics is the art of growing plants in water. The word comes from the Greek language: hydro = water and ponos = work. It is a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil. Terrestrial plants may be grown with their roots in the mineral nutrient solution only or in an inert medium, such as perlite, gravel, or mineral wool.

There is no such thing as hydroponics so I assumed you were referring to hydroponics. Hydroponics is a subset of hydroculture and is a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil.
