Actually the word is miused. Interpreting usually means to translate what someoen else is saying into a language to be understood by someone of another tongue. However, the word really means to give your impression of what somepne else is saying and not 'translate' what they literally did say.

Interpreting is taking an utterance in one language and changing it into an equally conceptual and culturally equivalent in another language. This differs from translating in the sense that translating is something done with a written form of language. Interpreters work between two people. Translators work, most times, with documents.
