Nitrogen purging means to inert the atmosphere of hydrocarbon vessels and lines. In other words to limit the oxygen contents so that it cannot react with the hydrocarbons and make some explosive mixtures.
Nitrogen Purging in Gas Well: (Oil & Gas Industry Terms, Well Activation)
Generally for gas well activation air compressors are used. Air compressor puts in oxygen into the Hydrocarbon system in the well, this results in explosive mixture (as hydrocarbon & oxygen can explode by a single spark). To reduce oxygen content in the well, Nitrogen is circulated at high pressure @ 80-100 Kg/cm2 from annulus (casing) and returns of gases are taken out from tubing of the well.
The Nitrogen purging job brings down chances of explosion / explosive mixtures.
There isn't much to this. Prior to maintenance or start up, process lines are usually purged with nitrogen to remove any impurities within the system. So as you can see, all you do is inject nitrogen into process lines and you are effectively purging the system.
Nitrogen purging simply means to allow nitrogen to flow into the reactor to purge the vessel of any impurities within it. This is done prior to start up or during a maintenance cycle.
purging is the process of purging an air to the unburned fuel oil, before it be fired.
Purge slowly into a pail or bucket in the telemotor hydraulic system purging valve until such a time pure hydraulic oil are coming out from the purging valve.
During the welding of steels, oxidation occurs in the weld seam if oxygen reaches this area unhindered. This situation is even more acute with titanium, zirconium, molybdenum and other gas-reactive metals and alloys. The resulting oxidized surfaces are no longer corrosion-resistant, and further treatment is necessary. Removing oxidation by grinding also removes the metal's passive protection against corrosion. Other mechanical procedures, such as brushing, blasting and pickling remove the oxidation, which restores corrosion resistance. However, in some cases such as pipe welding, removing oxidation after welding is difficult or impossible to do. During pipe welding, oxides are usually located in areas that are almost impossible to access, such as in two 4-inch-diameter pipes that are each 10 feet long. Pickling will restore the corrosion resistance, but it is time-consuming and nearly impossible on a remote job site. Instead of removing oxidation, another solution is to prevent it from occurring in the first place. In essence, this is what purging tries to achieve. With purging, a gas is used to protect the weld seam until it has cooled to the point that oxidation no longer can occur. Usually, an inert gas, such as argon which is heavier than air, is used. Other purging gases such as nitrogen and nitrogen/hydrogen blends can also be used.
of Purge, That purges; cleansing., The act of cleansing; excessive evacuations; especially, diarrhea.
N is the symbol of Nitrogen, and nitrogen is NOT a metal
Purging the space with nitrogen forces out the oxygen, which you need to live.
Exactly waht it sounds like - flooding/flushing/purging something with nitrogen gas (often to exclude oxygen (air))
Yes, Helium is neutral (inert, noble) gas
Cleaning out. A bit like purging.
in the plumbing world nitrogen is used for purging the air, O2, out of medical gas lines or refrigeration lines for air conditioners. nitrogen is used because it does not burn like O2 thus leaving the inside of the pipe clean.

In the English Language there are a number of meaning for the term purging. It can mean that someone with an eating disease throws up all eaten food because they believe they are getting to fat for comfort when in fact they are starving themselves to death. Purging is used to remove air from hydrolic car brake lines to allow the lines to work at peak efficiency. Purging can mean that your political opponents 'disapear' from the face of the earth

it is non flammable gas spark no explosion no fire. Added....Any of the intert gases are non flamable. Perhaps it's because Nitrogen is likely the cheaper and easier to produce than the other intert gases.
Purging can gradually tear a hole in your esophagus.
