First off, Nova Scotia is not a nation, so it cannot have a national animal.
There is no official recognition of any animal as a Nova Scotia symbol, but unofficially, it would be the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.
Lots of different animals live in Nova Scotia. For example there are many species of birds.
In Nova Scotia there are 31 species at risk and 11 marine species at risk. Please go to http:/www.speciesatrisk.ca/municipalities/sar_ns.htm to see more details on this subject.

Nova Scotia and New Brunswick
Digby Nova Scotia is known for its Scallops (pronounced "Skull ups" not "Sk al ups") and its lobsters. The Annapolis valley is known for its Apples (well its apple blossoms anyway). However, we have the same kinds of foods as any other place in Canada or the U.S. would have. We just specialize in sea food because we are on the sea.
This question is a bit of a problem for me. The Canadian Provence of Nova Scotia is just what we call a maritime Provence. Normal houses for cold climates in North America. Some of the neighborhoods are kind of neat with the old brightly coloured fisherman's houses. But really nothing unusual.
The Halifax Herald (Chronicle Herald is the actual name) covers news, weather and events in Nova Scotia. They also cover breaking international news and events.
