Photosynthesis is the process that green plants use to harness the energy of the Sun. Plants use the Sun's energy to turn Carbon Dioxide and water into useful sugars. Oxygen is released as a byproduct.
Jan Baptist van Helmont was the first to study the effects of photosynthesis in the 1600s, while important research on many of it's attributes was continued by many scientists since then, including Joseph Priestley, Jean Senebier, Cornelius Van Niel, and Robert hill to name a few.
Photosystem 2 happens in photosynthesis before photosystem 1. However they are numbered in order of how they were discovered. Photosystem 1 was discovered before photosystem 2. In photosynthesis the order of them is 2 then 1. meaning that photosystem 1 was discovered 1st but photosystem 2 happens 1st in photosynthesis

The word wasn't "discovered", it was coined from Greek: photo for light and synthesis to make. So, making something from light.
in the 1930's he discovered that plants took in carbon dioxide and water and they released oxygen
Jan Baptista van Helmont, a Flemish chemist, physiologist, and physician, discovered the beginnings of photosynthesis. He performed a biological experiment on a willow tree in 1643. He carefully measured the mass of the soil used by a plant and the mass of the plant as it grew. After noticing that the soil mass changed very little, he hypothesized that the mass of the growing plant must come from the water, the only substance he added to the potted plant. Although some of the steps in photosynthesis are still not completely understood, the overall photosynthetic equation has been known since the 19th century. Jan Ingenhousz is the person who is credited with the discovery of photosynthesis. He was a British scientist who died in 1799.

He discovered that light energy is important for photosynthesis. AD 1845
Yvonne B Heimlich He found it out via using 3 complex experiemnts
in the 1930's he discovered that plants took in carbon dioxide and water and they released oxygen
Joseph Priestley (right) found that plants could "restore ... In other words, he discovered that plants produce oxygen.
he discovered photosynthesis and how plants get energy from the sun to make food and sugars
Priestly, and Melvin Calvin! Look it up if you need to know who invented photosynthesis! I hope this helps!
The dark reaction of photosynthesis is named after Melvin Calvin who discovered it, hence the other name for it, The Calvin Cycle.
