∙ 11y agoBecause that is the range that is required to be checked - less than 35oC a person would show obvious other signs of hypothermia; similarly, if someone was 42oC (or more) there would again be other obvious signs of pyrexia.
During open heart surgery where the body temperature is deliberately lowered the temperature is monitored constantly using specialised machines and not a clinical thermometer.
