IE;

It is when the last part in a word, for example the "oy" in "Destroy" sounds like the last part of another word, for example Toy. Also note that the words do not need to have similar spelling at the end to sound the same. The "ort" sound of "caught" sounds just like the "ort" sound of "bought" even though they are spelt differently.
