It seems to answer its own question. this is marine operation ( from ships and boats) on the Ham or Amateur radio wavelengths. Not to be confused with the various Marine bands used by Merchant shipping companies, Phone companies ( Marine Operator calling) etc. By the way radio waves carry greater over water as they generally do at night. The Night side is ideal.
