Dogs Dogs have been selectively bred for different purposes, such as guard dogs, sheepdogs, tracker dogs and "cute pets" Wheat Wheat has been selectively bred for higher yields, shorter stems to reduce wind damage and greater resistance to diseases Horses Horses are selectively bred and technology can increase the rate of conception, a healthy pregnancy, and successful foaling.

Selective breeding is where you choose eg. the best milk producing cow, then gett another cow that produces milk well, and breed them together. You can do the same with colour of fish. if you want a blue and red Koi, u can have 1 blue koi and 1 red koi, to produce a blue and red 1. by Kristian Hayes 13 years old

Modern cows, pigs, horses, dogs and cats are all examples of selectively bred animals.

Modern wheat, maize, potatos, tomatos, rice, Oranges, apples etc. are all examples of selectively bred plants.

These are normally bred to include the best features of the parents in the offspring

How gentic traits inheritance differ in natural selection vs selective breeding?

Natural Selection is different from Selective Breeding beacuse the environment controls the traits the animal or plant gets. Selective Breeding is the traits desired are the ones bred

What isn't an example of selective breeding?

Selective breeding is when people (scientists) breed plants/animals for their traits. Its like strong horses being bred together or like white and red flowers to make pinks flowers. They can predict what the organism will turn out to look like. An example that ISN'T selective breeding is random flowers/animals that breed not caused by humans.

What is selective breeding?

Selective breeding is the process in which two animals from the same species reproduce due to useful characteristics. Two animals with a certain type of characteristic are bred together to produce offspring. Then the offspring with the most useful characteristic breeds with another offspring to produce more offspring. This process continues for generations until the offspring consistently have the useful characteristic farmers or scientists are looking for. Cross-breeding is a type of selective breeding except with animals from two organisms from the same species but not the same breed. Selective breeding is one of the most common causes for a wide range of breeds in animals and varieties in plants. this is incorrectIt is the process which humans use animal breeding and plant breeding to selectively develop particular characteristics by choosing which typically animal or plant males and females will sexually reproduce and have offspring together

What organism did mendel use for this study on genetics?

Mendel studied pea plants. He chose strains that bred true for traits like pea color, flower color, and height. By crossing plants that bred true for these traits he was able to determine that offspring were not a "blend" of their parents and that traits were passed on by what we now know as genes in patterns that could be predicted from one generation to the next.

How is cross breeding different from selective breeding?

Cross breeding is simply taking two breeds of animals and mating them together (Such as a Charolais crossed with a Hereford). Where selective breeding is selecting the what two animals you want bred together to produce a better animal.

What breeds of dog are not selectively bred?

All defined breeds are selectively bred. Maybe different breeders have slightly different goals, but as long as humans decide which dog mates with which, then it is selective breeding. Only time breeding isn't selective is when the dogs are free to mate as THEY wish. As with street dogs.
