Compared to the Pacific or Atlantic, The Dead Sea's salinity is so high it's almost off the charts. The reason that the sea is dead is -- too much salt. Immersion in this is like immersion in a large toxic bath that will kill what's on you but -- not you. If the direct reaction of the concentrated sodium isn't enough, another property of sodium is that it is hygroscopic and so absorbs water from organisms, thus desiccating them and killing them. While this isn't the answer to every human malady, it does do a lot more than you'd expect! And -- it even feels good.
