Soybeans are beans grown in East Asia for centuries and mostly used in fermented food products or curdled as tofu, almost never raw.

Soybeans is up to 40% protein and 20% fat rich and as such is one of humanity's most important crop nutritionally and economically.

In their traditional food usage, they provide many health benefits.

The soyflour resulting from the oil extraction process is used as livestock feed.

The oil can be used for cooking purpose, but is also used to produce biodiesel, and formerly, plastics.

Soybean oil is sometimes called vegetable oil, which is a double abuse of language, as soy is a legume, not a vegetable, and it is probably a confusion between vegetal and vegetable.
