Suicide bombing is the practice of using one's self as the transportation, hiding place and trigger for deploying a bomb. Generally (but not always) driven by religious fanaticism (in which case it is referred to as martyrdom) that places an afterlife or other goal above the value of the bomber's own life. The primary advantage this technique offers is release from the requirement to place a bomb in position and escape; all the bomber has to do it get as close as possible to the target undetected before setting off the bomb. It also requires no remote control or timer device that can malfunction.
Suicide bombing can also occur in a vehicle or aircraft used both for transportation and for getting close to a large, closely-packed group of victims.

There is no proper term for "suicide bomber" in Arabic. Usually, people just refer to the person as a "suicidal one" - "Entehaari" (أنتحاري) or a "martyr" - Shaahed (شاهد). However, there are many terms for a "suicide bombing", so most Arabs will say something like "the man who committed/took part in a suicide bombing". Such words for a suicide bombing include: 3amaliya tafajiria (عملية تفجيرية) or Bombing Operation, 3amaliya entehaariya (عملية أنتحارية) or Suicide Operation, 3amaliya estashaahediya (عملية استشهادية) or Martyrdom Operation, and 3amaliya 3askariya (عملية عسكرية) or Militant Operation.
