"Suicide watch" is a term used to describe a situation where a person has attempted suicide or it is believed that a person may have reason to harm themselves. In some cases, the person is placed in a "safe room" which is virtually empty, with only a paper thin gown. Some suicide watches are more inhumane than others. A suicide watch usually occurs within an institutional setting such as jail, prison, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, etc... but friends or family who are aware of the signs of suicide may conduct their own brand of suicide watch in order to protect their loved one from harming themselves.

There really is no way to protect yourself. The chances of you being attacked by a suicide bomber are highly minimal, so as long as you don't go to somewhere where you know they reside, you should be fine. -Watch for agitated people wearing bulky clothing out of season
