Best bet is to check the auction sites for one in similar shape/condition to yours. Your description is to vague. Also, the original box, manual, and any other papers that came with it will add value. Before 1968, serial numbers were not requried.
Go to a library and see if they have a copy of Blue Book of Gun Values by S. P. Fjestad
I have a Stevens Visible Loading .22, adn the serial number is on the underside of the rifle, on the extended metal that goes from the trigger guard into the stock. It's quite visible. Ed
I don't know what the numbers on the trigger are unless they are a part number, but you can add about 25% to the asking price for a single selective trigger.
It is one type of gun.It has 2 step squared off reciver with " J stevens arm copany" stamped on the left side and the safety located inside the trigger guard.

Stevens 12ga. /mod dhead naught
It means your Montgomery Ward branded gun was made by Savage/Stevens and is identical to the Stevens model 94B.
I can't find anything about a "379" (could it be 370 or 375?), but if the name is stamped as you have it written, the gun was made between 1864 and 1886.
front trigger fires right barrel. back trigger fires left. boone
Very nice. I wish I had one. Did you have a question about it?
Made by Savage/Stevens. We have trigger guards.
The model 39A had a cast trigger guard and the front screw holds the receiver to the stock. The models 59's all have a stamped trigger guard that is held in place with wood screws. The take-down screw is in front of the trigger guard. The model 59B has a black forend tip.
Not a model number. If you are finding that stamped behind the trigger guard it is an assembly number. In any event, virtually any Stevens single-shot shotgun is going to sell for less than $100. sales@countrygunsmith.net
