That is a hard question to answer because there are so many variables it is like comparing apples to Oranges as they say. European wallpaper is not the same size as that produced in the US. Even that which is produced here varies in width and length, so when you see a price quoted for a roll, be sure to check the width and length of the roll. Also, the quality, design and finish of the individual product will determine the price. The best advice is if you see something you think is perfect for your wall or room and you can afford it, purchase it and be happy with your selection.

There isn't really an average. If it just peeled right off the wall it would be easy......but usually it doesn't. It also depends on what type of "paper" it is....regular wallpaper, vinyl, foil, etc.

We have had some before that were so difficult to remove that we had to damage the drywall and re-float & re-texture the wall. Also, in some cases, the homeowner would just choose to have us paint over the paper....which requires quite a bit of prep work too.

It is all labor.

if you don't have the money to spill out-- you can remove it yourself

Buy a 4" scraper

Buy a gallon of kilz wallpaper remover inhibitor.

Buy a TIGER CLAW (tool) this tool will perforate the paper for quicker soaking up.

use the tiger claw tool first and go over a section of the wall before spraying with KILZ.

Ad and mix some KILZ with hot water and apply it on the wall with a sponge or with a gardening pump sprayer canister like the ones used by exterminators.

wait about ten minutes and start scraping one section at a time. If you gouge the wall while scraping you will need to go over the gouges with some plaster of Paris and sand the plaster until its wall level and smooth.

This alone will save you about 60% of what a paper installer will charge you

Paperhangers generally charge by the roll or yard. Giving an exact price is next to impossible. Types of wall-coverings, room design , preparation and geography will all affect your final price. In the NY Metro area. paperhangers will often charge anywhere from $20.00 to $40.00 per roll for an average bedroom. More rural areas may find prices somewhat less.
