American Pit Bull Terriers, aka Pit Bulls, have a very diverse set of behavioral traits. Individuals of the breed may exhibit behaviors at totally opposite ends of the scale from highly dominant, dog-aggressive, and even people-aggressive all the way to submissive, dog-friendly and people-friendly. In fact, this breed arguably exhibits the greatest range of behavior traits of any of the pure-bred dogs because of the different ways in which people raise them, use them, and treat them. Further, they tend not be as in-bred as other pure-bred dogs, leading to greater diversity in inherited behavioral characteristics. All that being said, there are some general behavioral traits that most Pit Bulls share - they do tend to be more dominant or dog-assertive than other breeds, they tend to be people-friendly, eager to please, playful, affectionate, and energetic.
