The Final Fantasy series has many great villains. I'm sure if you took a poll of all fans, the winner would be Sephiroth for greatest villain of the series. While I think he is pretty good, here are some other fantastic villains from the series for your consideration.
- Kefka from FF VI is considered by many to be the best villain in FF history, myself included. Partially because he actually succeeds at his goals. He becomes a God and destroys the world two thirds of the way through the game. While he is eventually defeated, you have to admit that he got what he wanted and impacted an entire planet.
- Caius Ballad from FF XIII-2 also succeeds with his goals. By getting Serah and Noel to "kill him" he manages to kill the Goddess Etro and destroy time itself. All for the sake of a girl that he has had to watch die countless times.
- Kuja from FF IX doesn't succeed, but becomes an incredibly sympathetic villain by the end of the game when you discover his whole backstory and his relationship w/ Zidane.
- Kain the Dragoon from FF IV is also a great villain. While not the main villain, He is awesome and its almost hard to hate him because he is so cool.
- The FF games with bad villains IMHO: XIII, VIII (minus Seifer), I, II, III, V.
