First get in touch with you local BUILDING OFFICIAL. They will probably have some questions as to what you are doing and why. There may be some restrictions in your area as to height of retention and or the type of materials that can be used.
Next get with an engineer to design anything retaining over 2 feet of fill. It is MHO that ROCK WALLS SUCK! it is not a question of if they will fail, but when they will fail.
My first selection would be concrete if i had to do it myself. I would add a sealer to the earth side of the wall and porous material behind the wall for a minimum of 24" with drains at the base of the wall to allow for hydraulic relief.
JMHO, Hope this helps.
Terry

You can get a hold of your local Versa-lok retaining wall business and have them do a engineered planned wall for you. Then have the the landscaper affiliated with that business put it up. They will be able to tell you if it can be done.
