Boil some clean water then cool until it is still quite warm

Warm some glycerine check that they are both a safe temperature. Lay on your side ear up dip cotton tip in warm water then place it into the warm Glycerine. Rub the cotton bud around OUTER rim of your ear canal ...Repeat until the warm fluid runs inside coating the sides lay for a couple of minutes on your side.

Step 2 part fill a hot water bottle when it is still quite warm but safe place a damp cloth over it and then lay with the affected ear against it CHECKING one last time for a safe temp ; ) Arrrr relief.

Administer via eye dropper into ear and let work.

This will relieve pain and itching.

Some pain medicine or ear drops can help. If the ear drops are warmed in hot water for a couple of minutes and placed into the ear, it will feel better. Don't add drops if the ear drum is ruptured. See the doctor for an antibiotic.

Any OTC (over the counter) pain medications can be effective for an earache, but if it is a child under the age of 18, do NOT give them aspirin. If there is any chance the child has the flu, it can result in Reye's Syndrome, which can be fatal. But acetominophen (Tylenol) is safe for children, so you can try that. A heating pad can also be helpful in alleviating the pain. If the earache lasts more than a day, or if fever is also present, or if there is swelling or redness in or below the ear, you need to contact your doctor.
