The fastest sustained wind speed in any storm dubbed a hurricane was 190 mph. In this case the record is tied between Hurricane Camille (1969) and Hurrican Allen (1980). However, the storms we call hurricanes go by other names in other parts of the world. If we include those, then the record goes to Typhoon Haiyan (2013).
