In Zambia, the cool, dry season is from April to August, while the hot, dry season is from August to October or November, and the warm, rainy season is from November to April. Average daily high temperatures in Lusaka the capital are 79 degrees F (26 degrees C) in January, 73 F (23 C) in July, and 88 C (31 C) in October, but climate varies widely by region. The northwest receives the most rain, the central region is cooler, and the east is hotter and drier The climate in Zambia varies in most regions. Ideally, the climate should be tropical since Zambia is in tropics region however, this is affected by the high altitude.

The climate is tropical, although markedly moderated by altitude. There is a dry season, including a short cool season during the period May to September when the whole country has very little rain. The rainy season is typically a time of heavy rainfall from November to March.
