HIV - Human Immunodeficiency Virus is a virus consisting of only protein and RNA that enters your CD4 T-Cells and inserts it's RNA into the cell's genome. Then it uses the cell's replicative capabilities to clone itself until the cell finally "bursts" and the virus spreads further in the same manner. AIDS - Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome is a stage in HIV in which the HIV has already spread throughout the immune system and caused a weak immune system. Getting sick or ill at this point can be fatal because your body cannot respond to sickness without the help of the CD4 T-Cells. These cells act as a warning system and also identify pathogens. They can be viewed as the Military Intelligence of the immune system. STI - Sexually Transmitted Infection is a sexually transmitted infection, not disease. An example is a urinary tract infection.
