Also Bass subs are designed to have a variable input and adjustable volume, and equalizers.
Where's Car subs are only designed to be linked into a speaker system and have no controls on the actual sub. (volume etc controlled through the speaker system)

∙ 12y agoA guitar amp is usually used to amplify a six string electric guitar while a bass amp is usually used to amplify an electric bass guitar.
The main difference is in the circuitry - solo guitars and bass guitars need different tone-shaping to sound good. Usually bass amps are tailored for the lower frequencies while guitar amps are made to sound great in the midrange.
Most of the time bass amps have less gain than guitar amps. If we're talking about combo amps (amps that come with a built-in speaker), they have different kinds of speakers built-in. Also, bass amps are usually higher in wattage as low tones need more amplifying to cut through music well.

I can't think of any issues other than the regular guitar amp may not have the size of speakers to give the best bass sound. ------ Guitar amps are made to output guitar frequencies. Bass amps are made to output bass frequencies. If you interchange the two, you will not do damage but at some point the amp will cut out. I believe it was Tony Iommi who used to play guitar through a bass amp to get some really nice bass distortion on his guitar. ------ I believe that after too much use, the low frequencies of a bass may damage the guitar amp. I'd say it's alright to use it with a guitar amp, but try to keep it in moderation.
