What is the diffence between government and state?

A state is usually a administrative unit carved out based on a number of qualities like culture, language etc or simply feasibility to govern/administer of a region of country.Such regions put together make up a country. It may have diverse culture, language in states/region but the whole of these states isa total area of the country.Each state will have a govt of its own whereas Central govt will have control over the entire area of all the states. Accordingly powers are shared between states and centre for administration various aspects.

A country and a state are not much different. Mostly because a state is part of a country. Like the USA has 50 states. Each state takes up a single part of the United States. Once all 50 states are made up, it forms the United States of America. (USA)
