What is the difference between a fashion illustrator and fashion designer?
A fashion illustrator is someone who draws, photographs, or in some way reproduces fashions. A fashion designer is someone who comes up with new looks and pieces of clothing. Without a fashion designer there would be no fashion illustrators.

The difference was the 1970's fashion trends were still similar to the 1960's trends (the "British Invasion" and "Flower Child" Hippie looks), while the late seventies' and ei…ghties' fashions changed to include a 'rainbow' of new fashion statements. Many of which were influenced by Disco dancing and movies about Disco dancing. Women in the 1980's started wearing "BIG" hair styles. While in the 1970's hairstyles for women tended to still be more natural, as in the 1960's and "Hippie" styles. In the 80's, the new trend for men's hairstyles was the "why-did-they-do-that?" mullet. See the link on this page to the Rate My Mullet web site for photo examples. Even some women adopted that style of hair once it became popular. As the eighties progressed, women's hair continued to get bigger and stiffer and men's hair started to trend toward shorter and slicked back with gels like the characters in "Wall Street", at least the ones who could wean themselves from the mullet (that has taken decades for some, however). 1980's pants for both sexes were trending toward being worn really tight and close at the ankles instead of the Hippie and 1970-style bell bottom jeans. Baggy sweatshirts for women, cut to open the neck and worn off the shoulder like in the movie Flash Dance were popular, as were the leg warmers from the same influence in the '80's. The leg warmers were worn in summer as well as winter over the tight pants legs or with mini skirts. Women used scrunchies in their hair (often to match the leg warmers), and wore them on their wrists to "keep track of them for use later". Boy George was a fashion icon for both sexes in the mid to late 80's, too. Men often dressed in brightly colored polyester leisure suits, many with vests for a three piece suit look, with platform shoes, like John Travolta's character in Saturday Night Fever, starting with the big Disco dancing trend in the 1980's. Or, instead, they wore "left-over hippie clothes" from the 60's and 70's with long hair, ripped jeans, and those plaid flannel "lumber jack" shirts. But, all that said, generally speaking, the style in the 80's was more 'polyester', while in the 70's it was overall more 'natural'.
A fashion designer is the person who designs the clothing. They choose the cut, fabric, color.... A fashion merchandiser is the person who works in a retail setting and sets u…p the display. It is there job to make the clothes look as good as possible. They decide that this shirt looks best with this skirt. In a large corporate store a fashion merchandiser will design the display and send the design to the individual stores. The department manager will then be responsible for replicating the design. In smaller stores the fashion merchandiser will be probably the manager or owner of the store.
I am a Fashion Design student right now so I know a bit more about that subject. But Fashion merchandising is the business side of fashion, the fashion shows and events, retai…l stores, management, store displays, trend research stuff like that. Fashion Design is the technical and creative side of fashion, the drawing, knowledge and skills in sewing/construction, and of course designing. Merchandising in terms of schooling is more math (business) and reading and writing, whereas in Fashion Design its all much more hands on work like sewing and drawing. I hope I've helped to clarify.
With fashion design, you create new designs for clothings. Like, you create new shirts, pants, shorts, dresses, sweaters, etc. As for Graphic Design, it's like photosh…op. EVERYTHING you see all around us that have a design... that is graphic designing. For example, the covers you see on magazines... that's graphic designing. That's the career I wanna do. I would love to be a graphic designer. There's, also Web Design. Web Design is when you're workin' w/ websites. But, that's a little harder because you have to know ALL the HTML codes, etc. I'm thinkin' about doing that too. For Web Design, you, also create websites. If you would like to experience what Web Design is like, you can create a website at www.freewebs.com. You should try it; it's fun. =] Good luck, iloveband! =]
No there is not because a fashion line is basically a fashion collection it's just two different words.
Fashion is what is what people are doing at the moment and a fad is a fashion that quickly fades away. Answer: Cynically a fad is a fashion that only your social inferiors h…ave picked up. When a fad is adopted by the "proper" people it becomes fashion.
Not a great amout to be honest. The main difference between now and the 80s is that the 80s had a individual style in itself, wheras now there is a focus and interest on …'vintage style' clothing. There has been a large emphasis on past eras since the start of the decade. Alot of the fashion at the moment is based on 1970s influences; the 'boho' look. But there are some similarities as there are influences from the 1980s style, such as oversized Tshirts with leggings. x
A fashion designer is someone who works with the fashion of the time and presents catwalk shows and adverts in magazines such as I-D and Vogue where as a costume designer desi…gns for certain plays, dances, pantomimes, films, programmes etc. for the actors, singers, dancers etc but they don't follow fashion or try and set a certain trend. There clothes concepts are up to the director of the production (or whatever it may be) and the clothing has to suit the character and the style of the production. A fashion designer can be a costume designer but a costume designer can't be a fashion designer. eg: an old fashioned play about a slave - the slave wears a thin dirty dress made of poor mans fabric and scruffy shoes. Or a modern play about New York life - the main character wears a suit most of the time and is styled very cleanly.
I believe fashion designing is making a visual of how you think the clothes will look (drawing/sketching/etc.) Fashion technology can either be making the clothes, or using te…chnology to show what the clothes would acually look like?
,I want to ask you that what is the difference between fashion designing and textile desiging, plz reply me,,,
Fashion is something that is "in trend" at the moment and that majority of people in a certain age group are wearing, whereas a fad is something that is no longer "in styl…e"; something that no-one wears anymore, that is out of its age.
Africans cover up a lot more than European. Plus, they have more patterns, color, and culture. Europeans have slight color and more accessories. When you see accessories on Af…ricans, it means that they can afford it because they never think of using cheap materials. Just rare rocks and pieces that they find. Also, Europeans where more texture than Africans.
Fashion designing will have different branches. There will be the designers, the seamstress and the marketing branches for example.
Some differences would include the fabric, quality, price, style, design. etc..
Well, if you ask me, everything since the seventies has gotten a lot smaller! While in the past, hair was HUGE, and jeans had flairs, nowadays, people are swapping them for ba…rely no clothes at all!
fashion is a prevailing custom or style of dress, etiquette, socializing, etc.: the latest fashion in dresses.where as fashioning is to wear something (i.e. Bob is fashioning …a a red tie)
A fashion designer designs an outfit for a model 6 feet tall who weighs 110 pounds and lives on celery and cotton balls. A clothing designer takes the fashion designer's desig…n and tries to port it to normal sized ladies.
