A saga generally refers to a long and complex story that spans multiple generations or time periods, often involving multiple plotlines and characters. A trilogy, on the other hand, specifically refers to a series of three interconnected works, such as books or films, that together form a complete story arc. In essence, a saga is broader in scope and can encompass multiple trilogies within its narrative.

according to Nicholas Sparks, romance novels "all essentially the same story: You've got a woman, she's down on her luck, she meets the handsome stranger who falls desperately in love with her, but he's got these quirks, she must change him, and they have their conflicts, and then they end up happily ever after."

But in love stories, you can never expect what the ending will be. It can be a happy ending, but it can also be sad, tragic, or bittersweet. You never know what to expect. It's like, Cinderella (romance) vs. Romeo and Juliet (love story).

a saga is like more than two books continuing one story e.g. Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga, its 4 books continuing one story (Bella and Edward's) , a love story is just a story.

A saga is usually more than 1 book, and a story is usually only 1 book, a saga can tell a story, but a story can't tell a saga. Hope that answered your question
