What is the difference between black and green olives?
The difference is the curing. Olives are cured in brine ( salt and water). A green olive is picked early when it is "green" so therefore it stays green after curing. A black olive stays on the tree longer and is black. It is black when cured.

Olives grow on olive trees in Spain, Italy, Greece, and the US. The black (ripe) olives have a stronger, more pungent taste than green olives. The reason that we don't taste the bitterness of the black olives (when we buy them in a can) is because most of the oil and flavor is taken out, when marinated in water with a slight bit of vinegar and just a very small amount of salt. The green olives that we buy in the jar are marinated in water with a bit of vinegar and lots of brine salt, and often stuffed with pimentos. The brine salt and vinegar kills the bitterness of the olives; this is why in the US when you taste green or black olives , you usually can't taste the original authentic flavor. Another difference is the curing. Olives are cured in brine (salt and water). A green olive is picked early so it remains green after curing. A black olive stays on the tree longer and is black. It is black when cured, too.

Green olive oil is extra virgin olive oil which means it has a stronger olive flavor and is best used in salad dressings or as a condiment where you can enjoy the olive ta…ste. Yellow olive oil is made from second or third pressings of the olives and has a milder taste and is better suited for frying and sauteing. Answer: the color of olive oil does not indicate quality. Color is determined by how ripe the olives are at harvestime. Unripe green olives will produce a green colored oil and the ripe black olives will produce a gold colored oil. Avoid purchasing oil so light in color or has little color, this may indicate that it has been refined. Choose and enjoy from the over 680 different varieties of olive trees. olive oil is known as liquid gold in the Mediterrean. So eat some, cook with it or apply to your skin, hair, and to soften wounds and bruises since the oil contains antioxidant vitamin E and polyphenols which fight cancercy. Enjoy!!!
Black olives are actually green olives that are ripe. There are many types of olives and many of them are already dark in color. But the basic green olive (neé spanish olive …or manzinilla olive) ripen over time into black olives ;)

For most food packaging, the cheapest packing method is used that can sell the product. With the liquid packed with olives, cans is the cheapest method. The beverage we have commonly come to call tea is the result of steeping the leaves of the tea tree (Camelia sinensis) in boiling water. All teas are from this common plant, i…t is the manner in which it is harvested and processed for market that makes the different kinds of tea. Green - freshly picked tea leaves are streamed, rolled on mats and heated. Steaming makes the leaves pliable and de-activates the enzymes that cause fermentation. Rolling releases the flavours and heating stabilises the tea. Black - Fermentation is what make black tea black, gives it strength and richness. The leaves are placed in a warm moist room were they wilt and ferment, they are then rolled and eventually fired. The firing stops the fermentation process and keeps the tea from spoiling. Oolong - is semi-fermented, causing the tea to be stronger than green tea but more delicately flavoured than the black tea. White - is the very young buds of the Asian tea cultivar known as "Silver Tips", harvested and blended with longer leaves and a touch of apricot flavour, designed to appeal to a wider consumership. Besides, these tea sorts have different to some extent health benefits and properties: Black tea contains anti-oxidants Theaflavins and Thearubigins, they also act as powerful anti-clastogenics which help prevent breakdown and breakage of cells.Green tea, besides its strong anti-oxidant properties, contains high level of EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate), which promotes weight loss and decreases cholesterol levels.White tea helps for lowering cancer and heart disorders risk, body detoxification, skin problems, dental diseases, inflammation and fevers.Oolong tea is #1 tea by concentration of Polyphenols which fight free radicals in organism. Also helps for improving digestion and headaches relief.

According to Wikipedia, green label is lower quality. "Previously, the famous black-label brand (the better-quality, higher-priced product) had been 86 proof, where le…gal, while the lower-end green label was 80 proof; these marked reductions from the previous practice of bottling the black-label product at 90 proof and the green-label product at 86. Both are made from the same ingredients; the difference is determined by professional tasters, who determine which of the batches will be graded as worthy of being labeled with the prestigious black label, the rest being sold under the green label."

Yes. The green are picked green and the black are allowed to ripen. They both go through the same process of curing in brine.
I would say it's probably more of an esthetic thing. Black olives wouldn't look appetizing in a jar with all the black liquid in it. Many green olives are either naturally fe…rmented or acidified and do not require a metal can. Most black olives are a low-acid food and require a higher heat canning process - which is more easily accomplished in a metal can.
Black Tea is the most popular tea all over the world. It comes from the Camellia Senesis plant. Black tea is made from the young tea leaves and the buds. The leaves and …buds are completely fermented or oxidized after they have been dried. Black tea has a strong, bitter flavor. Some different types of black teas are Orange Pekoe, and Earl Gray. Green Tea comes from the same plant as black tea, Camellia Senesis. It is even made from the same leaves as the black tea. The difference is that green tea does not go through a fermenting process. Instead the leaves are steamed after they are dried. Green tea has a grassy flavor.

Green belts do work and apply six sigma in amongst. A green belt is expected to be interested in making his/her role/team more efficient and better for the client/consumer. Th…is is a DILIGENT workers position in the company be it acredited as sixsigma or not. Black belts do six sigma all the time, they are given a project or two to impliment by the master and its their job to run them/it. Blackbelts should be expected to have an understanding of business studies including kaisen, statistics, hypothesis testing, finances, change managment, waste reduction etc. This is the role of DILIGENT middle managment in the company be it acredited or not. There is much debate in academia as to the benefit of acreditation as many of the marks are very similar in philosophy. Sixsigma is distinct in that it places its emphasis on statistics, its name being taken from the normal distribution curve. Some take this as an apperance of pseudoscience, however it has had a significant uptake in the NHS and other science baised companys. Other marks bias other variables for instance IIP values staff training etc. All institutions offering marks are commercial ventures and acreditation can seem to be biased for that reason alone. Generaly a good knowledge of the business in question and the limitations of culture there in are needed for the sucessful implimentation of any mark.

The main difference between green tea and black tea is how the tea leaves are processed. In order to make green tea, the tea leaves are plucked and partially wit…hered, then steam heated or pan fired almost immediately at about 200 degrees Celsius to prevent fermentation. The tea leaves are rolled again and shaped, and then reheated. The process allows some flavour to develop, but the tea leaves have minimal oxidation. Green tea has the most powerful antioxidant of all the teas, called HGCG. Black tea is processed more. After the leaves have been picked they are withered first out in the sun, then rolled to break open their tissue, which allows the inner chemicals to react with the air, causing the fermentation process to begin. The tea is only heated after that, and left to continue fermenting, during which it develops its characteristic brown/black colour. It is then reheated again. Black tea is more fully fermented than green tea, and contains fewer antioxidants.
