The Joan and David Company brand name was sold and as far as I can determine is not producing fine quality shoes under the Joan and David label anymore. Too bad. But the Circa Joan and David appears to be a separate company that specializes in almost new or easily worn original Joan and David shoes that are still in demand.
Okay, I am editing this answer.....I worked at a Joan and David boutique around 1998-99... All the original Joan and David shoes are hand made in Italy, and of excellent quality that will last for years. I have shoes 15-16 years old that are still stylish and look like new. I am beside myself by the circa line.. Mediocre quality, trying to keep the old style at a fraction of the price, so that's just what you get from circa. If you can find an older pair at a resale shop, it's worth every dollar. I miss Joan terribly- her designs and quality were the best. Rip David, as well.
