What is the difference between laptops and netbooks?

A netbook, for one thing is tiny compared to a laptop/notebook. Netbooks have a screen size of <10 inches and their hardware is the more basic things. They're only suited to web Surfing and using productivity software like MS Word. More intense programs like Adobe Photoshop may run but it will be very slow. Games are very hard to play on most netbooks but newer models are capable of playing older games.

Laptop and Netbook are pretty much interchangeable. They are a more normal PC as such. Laptops and Netbooks nowadays have pretty much the same capability as a regular PC, with similar processors, similar capacities of memory and disk space and integrated optical drive.

Netbooks are much smaller; they all come preloaded with the OS so there is no need for you to install it. These are intended as ultraportable machines and compromises are made for their small size. The screens are smaller, the processor tends to be less powerful and the disk drive tends to be smaller capacity and usually solid-state. They also lack an optical drive since there is no room in the case for one.

Intel atom based processors Netbook is a great little piece of technology, lightweight and easy to take anywhere.

Many Netbooks are not capable of running modern software smoothly, such as Windows Vista and 7, and often come installed with XP or the Basic versions of these.
