Proportionality limit is the point upto which the stress remains directly proportional to strain whereas elastic limit is the point upto which the material remains elastic ie. if the stress is removed within elastic limit, then the material will regain its original shape and size.

What is Difference between elastic limit and proportional limit?

What is the difference the proportional limit and the yield point of a spring that has been over stretched?

differece between proportional limit and yield point of a spring?

When a material is loaded within elastic limit the what is proportional to the what produced by the stress?

The displacement is proportional to the strain. This does not factor for creep and time.

Which one of the following properties is more sensitive to increase in strain rate?

elastic limit

What does Hooke's law depend on?

Within the elastic limit of the material, a springs deformation is proportional to its loading.

What is elastic limit and hooke's law?

The Law of elasticity states that the strain (deformation) of an elastic object is proportional to the stress applied to it. Since stresses and strains have multiple independent components, the 'proportionality factor' is represented by a linear map (a tensor) constituting a matrix of real numbers.

What is the relationship between extension and mass?

Within a materials elastic limit, the extension of a uniform section (like a wire) will be proportional to the tensile load. The graph of load (mass) v extension will be a straight line

What is the definition of hookes law is science physics?

Within Elastic limit, the strain produced in a body is directly proportional to the stress applied to that body.

What is difference between the proportional limit and the yield point of a string that has been over stretched?

proportional limit is value of stress that beyond which it is nonlinear; prior to that the stress strain diagram is a straight line. At yield, the material strain will not return to zero after unloading and have a permanent set

What is difference between limit of proportionality and tensile strength?

The proportional limit is the stress value at which the stress is no longer linear with strain. After that, the material will begin to yield and become non-linear, or plastic, and then it will fail at a higher value called the tensile strength. For most metals, the proportional limit is well below the tensile strength; for example annealed stainless steel has a proportional limit near 30 ksi and tensile strength of 80 ksi; aluminum has a proportional limit of 35 ksi and tensile strength of 42 ksi.

Does an object remain in elastic beyound elastic limit?
