A science experiment is when you don't know the outcome ahead of time, and perform tests to figure out the outcome. A science project is when you know what the results are SUPPOSED to be and then try to duplicate them from theory to reality.

The scientific method is the means through which people carry out scientific investigation. Investigation is the process, and the scientific method is the means.

For example, if you want to undergo a scientific investigation of whether Drug A has an effect on a mammal, you do the following steps of the scientific method:

1) establish a control and experiment group, and construct an experiment

2) state a hypothesis (what do you think will happen)

3) conduct the experiment against both groups

4) log your results

5) analyze results

6) draw a conclusion from those results that confirms or refutes your original hypothesis

7) have someone else try to reproduce your results from steps 3 through 6...reproducibility of results is critical in confirming scientific findings
