To be a Catholic, one has to be a member of the Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, the Body of Christ! It is usually by Baptism that one gains this privilege and later after being taught the Catholic Faith then one is Confirmed in all by the Bishop. The faith we are taught is the Faith that was revealed by Christ to the apostles and saints and was passed on by them to the bishops, where it is completed, explained and interpreted by the bishops through the media of the Seven Ecumenical Councils. There is no other faith under heaven by which we can gain salvation!

The Catholic Church is not a highly centralised body with a powerful human figurehead, but is the Body of Christ here on earth the central body being through the affilliation of the particular local and national groups through the apostolical succession, both in Orders and the Catholic Faith. There is but the One Church and its earthly authority lies through the Bishops and their mouth piece the Holy Councils.

This Church arrived in Britain shortly after Christ's Crucifixion [S.Dorotheus of Tyre.] and its first bishop was Aristobulos, Brother of S.Barnabus. [Ch.His. Orth.] It has lasted in this country , a particular Church, i.e. The Church in England. In the 16th, Cent, it broke away from the growing papalist sect and didn't join the robber council of Trent. ,by the 20th, Century after being under pressure from a series

Roman Catholic AnswerNot much, they are both protestant churchs, the one tries to be more Catholic then the Catholic Church in ritual, and claims for itself historical basis in the Catholic Church, but the Pope has formally ruled that neither one has Orders (a valid succession of bishops) and so neither one is Catholic.

The Church of Christ

The visible religious society, distinct from the Synagogue, instituted directly by Christ, under one head, St. Peter and his successors, the popes, for the purpose of preserving and propagated his teaching, and of safeguarding and using the same means of salvation (sacrifice and sacraments). It has certain marks (unity, holiness, catholicity, and apostolicity) by which it can be know. It enjoys the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and Christ has promised to be with it "all days, even to the consummation of the world" (Matt. 28:20), so that it is indefectible. He has commanded all men to join the Church, which is the one ark of salvation for all.

Anglicanism

I. The body of Protestant episcopal churches deriving from and in communion with the Church of England, including the churches of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the United States, South Africa, etc. with their missions and dependencies.

ii. The system of faith and morals professed by these bodies. These it is impossible to summarize owing to the diversity of belief and (to a lesser degree) of conduct taught, permitted, and tolerated in Anglicanism. From the definite "romanizing" of a section of the high-church party to the extreme liberalism of certain dignitaries and professors, many varieties of Christian thought can be found. They are usually very roughly classified as high-church, broad-church, and low-church; but, as Father Humphry Johnson has justly observed, there exists within the Church of England "a larger and more important party than any of these, though a less articulate one. This party serves as a cement between the others." According to the official Book of Common Prayer the articles of the three creeds are to be believed; The Bible contains all things necessary to salvation; Purgatory, indulgences, veneration of images and relics, and the invocation of saints are "vainly invented" and "repugnant to the word of God"; two sacraments necessary for salvation were ordained by Christ, Baptism and the Supper of the Lord; transubstantiation "is repugnant to the plain words of Scripture"; the "sacrifices of Masses . . . were blasphemous fables and dangerous deceits"; "the Bishop of Rome hath no jurisdiction in this realm of England," etc. These still represent the belief of many Anglicans.

What the difference between catholic church and Anglican?

There isn't one! The Anglican Church is the manifestation or showing forth of a Catholic Communion within the Body of Christ! A part of the whole!Or should I have asked which of the two separate and distinctive One True Catholic Church were you referring to?Roman Catholic AnswerAlthough classically the Anglican faith looks a lot like Catholicism, there is a vast difference. Catholicism is the church founded by Our Blessed Savior when He sent the Holy Spirit on the Apostles at Pentecost and prayed that they would be one. The Anglican church, as it was up until 30-40 years ago was founded by Elizabeth I as a compromise with the Protestants and the Catholics in her realm. The difference is one of authority, with the Catholic Church cleaving to the authority of Christ as manifested through Scripture and the Sacred Tradition, and interpreted by His Vicar on earth. The final authority in the Anglican Church rests between their bishops and the King or Queen of England.

Describe one important difference between Roman Catholic and Anglican priests?

Easy, Catholic clergy are bishops, priests, and deacons who have been ordained into the sacrificial priesthood of Christ through the Apostolic succession, and thus carry Our Blessed Lord's mandate to minister to His people. Anglican clergy are protestants who lost apostolic succession and do not have a proper sacrificial priesthood. Please see Apostolicae Curae issued by Pope Leo XIII in 1896 on the validly of Anglican Orders:http://www.papalencyclicals.net/Leo13/l13curae.htm

What is the difference between Anglican Church and Anglican Catholic church?

Not much difference at all. Eucharist comes from the greek word meening "thanksgiving". It is based on the events that happened at the last supper. All christian groups perform this service except salvatioists and quakers.AnswerThere is a great deal of difference. The Anglican Church worldwide is a group of churches that all uphold the ethos of the Anglican Church and which are in communion with other Anglican Churches. In this group are the Church of England, many African Churches and the Episcopalians in the USA.The Anglican church is a very diverse group of churches ranging from evangelical charismatic worship that is reminiscent of Pentecostal churches at one end of the spectrum, through to more formal, liturgical worship at the other. The Anglican Catholic Church (or 'Anglo-Catholic Church) is that small branch of the Anglican Church that celebrates its roots in Catholicism and whose worship reflects those roots. Unlike the evangelical wing of the Anglican Church, the Anglo-Catholic group places more emphasis on sacramental worship and its style of worship is much more like the Roman Church with the use of ornate riitual and liturgy, including, as an example, the use of incense. In fact, the Anglo-Catholic wing is often almost indistinguishable from the Roman Catholic Church except that it refuses to accept the authority of the pope. This diversity is one of the great strengths of the Anglican Church in that the same denomination can hold a range of traditions in union and love.

What is the difference between Prospetarian and Anglican?

I take it you mean Presbyterian and Anglican? If you do, then a Presbyterian Church is a Protestant Church, derived from John Calvin. After succeeding in displacing the Church in Scotland in the fifteenth century, the Presbyterians set their mind on capturing the Church in England! Under Elizabeth, the Protestants were compelled to join the Established Church. This for political reasons. By 1640, they had gained strength in parliament and with dissident Anglicans caused a war of religion in this country! What is the difference? The Anglican Church was the ancient catholic Church in this country , it believed in the old catholic truths of Apostolic Succession in both faith and orders. It believed in Revelation, Scripture and Holy tradition through the Councils. In short the Anglican Church was a Community of catholic believers within the Catholic Fold and holding to three Catholic Creeds and believing in Seven sacraments. The Real Presence and seven ecumenical councils!

Does the Catholic Church recognize a marriage between and Anglican and a Catholic if preformed by a priest?

Yes, of course, as long as a Catholic priest is performing the ceremony, then all the paperwork would be in order before he began.

What is the difference between Catholic ordination and an Anglo ordination?

Catholic Ordination is a sacrament instituted by Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ, and administered by a Bishop, who has his consecration in the Apostolic succession. It ontologically changes the man thus ordained. . Anglican ordination is a similar ceremony that institutes a man OR a woman into one of the three orders of protestant clergy in the Anglican Communion. Anglican ordination does not confer an ontological change, and this was ruled infallibly by Pope Leo XIII in Apostoloicae Curae, attached below.

Whats the difference between being Catholic Protestant and Orthodox?

The main difference is the authority of the pope. Catholics accept it, Protestants and Orthodox don't. There are some differences in the cannon (list of books) included in the Old Testament (although they all have the same New Testament). There are several different types of Protestant religions (Lutheran, Methodist, Anglican, etc) which have differences between themselves and differences between Catholic/Orthodox. So complicated to get into more specifics.

Difference between catholic and Anglican sacraments?

Catholics believe that the priest, acting in the person of Christ, actually changes the bread and wine, whole and entire, into the Body and Blood of Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ. After this change, called Transubstantiation, nothing of the bread and wine remains but their outward accidents. Anglicans are protestants, who believe any number of things, some of which might look like the Catholic belief, but they do not have a valid priesthood.
