What is the difference between the Nintendo 3DS and other DS systems?

The 3DS can be thought of as a more "evolved" DS. Obviously, the graphics are far better: both screens display in a much higher resolution, and the top screen is widescreen and in 3D. Like the DSi, the 3DS can take photos, but it can also take them in 3D thanks to its two outside cameras. The 3DS also has the Circle Pad (which is essentially a flattened analog stick) and a HOME button for returning to the main menu. The 3DS is about the same size and weight as a DSi. Obviously, all these advancements come with a price: the 3DS is significantly more expensive than other DS systems, at $250.

∙ 11y agoOh wow... well, they both have two screens, bottom is a single-touch screen. The DS supports GBA games and has 64 bits of power. The 3DS supports DS and DSi games, and plays 3DS games (not DS or DSi) in 3D, and has around 192 bits of power, around the same amount as your Wii. The 3DS also comes with a 2gb SD card. The 3DS therefore is the victor beig able to do everything the DS could times 4.78.

∙ 10y agoThe main difference between both consoles is that the 2DS cannot play the games with the 3D effect, even though it can still play 3DS' or DS' games. Consequently, is slightly cheaper than the former models.
Unlike the previous models, this one cannot be folded and only has one speaker, making it monaural (unless some ear/headphones or external speakers are connected). Also, it's slightly heavier, the battery can last an extra hour, it comes with a 4GB SDHC Card (instead of a 2GB one) and it has a switch that allows you to put it in "Sleep mode". It lacks the wireless switch so if you want to turn your internet communication on or off, you must go to the console settings.
