You're an idiot ID3449542669. The correct answer is 7926 miles by plane if you have a direct flight. Direct flights from SFO to BKK are not to common, most have one stop in China or the Philippines or Japan. Average time to reach your destination is between 12 to 20 hours. If you require a shorter fight and want to fly direct then fly out of L.A. LAX has several airlines that fly direct to BKK.

The most direct Great Circle route by air is ~8700 miles which overlies large sections of Russia, Mongolia and China. No US or Indian airline that I know of has overflight rights for all three countries in the regions that the Great Circle route take you over. Though some Asian carriers like Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways did on certain non-stops flights.

Therefore, its considerably longer than the 8,700 miles if an airline has to avoid overflying restricted territories and follow the pacific rim and occasionally overfly friendly countries that do permit overflight by reciprocal treaty. My guess is that the traditional non-stop corridor that would be used on any future SFO-BLR non-stop route is the same as the one used to fly from San Francisco or Los Angeles to Singapore, which is about 18 hours non-stop to cover the 8770 miles. Bangalore is another 4 hours or 1,963 miles from Singapore to Bangalore. So any aircraft attempting to fly non-stop from San Francisco to Bangalore non-stop would have to have a range greater than 10,733 miles for a flight that's close to 22 hours +/- an hour or more depending on the season and wind direction (head, tail or side wind).

There are two aircraft that could fly the SFO-BLR route non-stop, one is the Boeing 777-200LR which has a range of 10,794 miles and the other is the Airbus 340-500 which has a range of about 10,350 miles.

But given the high fuel costs and capacity limitations of a 777-200LR and a 340-500, it would be extremely unprofitable to fly these long-haul routes non-stop. Most fly high density aircrafts with one lay-over stop to be profitable (by carrying more passengers than a what the 777-200LR or the 340-500 can carry), or the other strategy is convert the whole aircraft to a 1 or 2 class aircraft, ie, all Business or some First Class and the rest Business and charge whatever it takes turn a profit. The latter is approach is what Singapore Airlines uses on it's Newark to Singapore and Los Angeles to Singapore non-stop services. It costs about $10,000 or more for a berth on these birds. I don't see high paying customers coughing up that kind of money on technology salaries to fly from SFO-BLR, two technology hubs. While New York/Newark and Singapore are financial hubs where greedy over-paid bankers can plunk down $10k of someone else's money to fly in non-stop business class comfort.
