The Epicuran Hypothesis was a philosophical question framed by Epicurus, who lived circa 200 BCE. It is an important part of Atheism and a poser to Christianity ( and all religions in general ). It staes thus; Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then He is not omnipotent. Is God able, but not willing to prevent evil? Then God is malevolent. Is God both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is He neither able nor willing [to prevent evil]? Then why call Him God? The Epicurean Hypothesis refers to the religious belief that God is omnipotent, benevolent, and exists. But, if God is willing to stop evil, but cannot He is not all powerful, nor is God omnipotent. If God does not want to stop evil, but can, then He is not loving and kind, therefore,,God is malevolent. If God wants to stop evil and can, why does evil exist? If God cannot or will not stop evil, Then God does not exist as God. Therefore, God is either malevolent, Impotent, or non-existent.
