While nothing is official yet, on October 19th 2016, it was reported that the co-writer of the Austin Powers sequels, was being courted to write a fifth installment in the Shrek series when his pitched impressed the studio.
No one has any idea what the story is and won't know for a long time, assuming the project is ever greenlit by the studio.

∙ 14y agoIn the first ovie there are vast different settings for the story as Shrek makes his journey to capture Fiona. The main settings would have to be Dulof, Shrek's swamp, and the castle where Princess Fiona is captive.
