Who is the composer who used the chord spelled C-F#-Bb-E-A-D as the basis for one of his orchestral compositions?
From what I understand, if you are in a key signature that has flats, it would be Gb, if the key had sharps it would be F#. if it is an accidental, I'm not for sure but it is probably up to the composer/arranger.
The correct name for the instrument is simply the horn, or F horn, or horn in F. That F refers to the key in which it plays. People erroneously thought the F stood for French, and the name stuck. There was something unsatisfying about calling an instrument the horn without adding a modifier to the name.
F sharp is the same note.
